Community involvement

Our school values strong partnerships with our families and community. Parents and carers can get involved through our Parents and Citizens Association (P&C) or by volunteering at our school. Your time and support help make our school a better place for everyone.

Parents and Citizens Association (P&C)

Our P&C is a group of parents, carers and school community members. They assist with school planning, fundraising, events and volunteering. Our P&C works in partnership with our school to promote the interests of our school community and benefit the students learning and experience.

P&C meetings

P&C meetings are held at the beginning and end of each term at school for 1 hour. You can attend in person or online. The P&C accommodate all participants to allow contributions to the meetings. When big events are on, meetings may be more frequent.

Hot Lunch - long table full of friends and family

As the school is in a small coastal locality it does not have a canteen. During term 3, Tanja Public School P&C take turns to prepare a hot lunch once a week for all the students to share. It is a wonderful opportunity for the students, family and staff to sit together at a long table at lunch time, in the garden laid with all the crockery and cloth and share a meal.

This is a special time to share new foods friends love at home like lasagne or dahl and also have treats like a hot dog and ice cream sundae.

This winter term is often heralded as a favourite by the children with warm meals, family, friends and sunshine.

A lush school kitchen garden for the kids to tend and learn. Regular working bees and volunteers help to do the bits in between.

The P&C, in collaboration with School staff host a Fair full of fun activities, delicious food and amazing local stall holders.

Many people from the broader Bega Valley Shire come to the Tanja School Fair and it is a great day for young and old.

Contribute to events

The Tanja School P&C run various fundraising events throughout the year, a major one is the School Fair once a year.

The P&C love fresh ideas that promote the school, and its inclusive philosophy and environmental interests. Funds raised get used to contribute to student experiences, make improvements to the grounds and build on available resources.
